How personal despair led to the setting up of a homeless charity with a difference

Listen now!

Do good to feel good is the motto of a Warwickshire charity which helps the homeless. But this is not simply another headline grabbing slogan.

Helping Hands, based in Leamington Spa, was born out of a personal time of despair for the CEO Lianne Kirkman.

The helping hand she received led to her volunteering for a local charity which she turned into a major tour de force in the town with a shop, soup kitchen and hub providing counselling, medical support and a place of safety, laughter and learning for people living on the streets or in danger of losing their home.

In this episode of From the Midlands, we hear how Lianne turned her life around and by doing so gives hope and a sense of belonging to people on the streets.
