Think sheep, think wool, think packaging. It may seem a leap but joining those dots led to launch of the Staffordshire company Woolcool.
Twenty years ago, packaging consultant Angela Morris was asked by the National Trust to find a way of helping its farmers keep their produce cool for deliveries. The emphasis was on finding material which worked, but was also environmentally friendly.
Counting sheep wasn’t about sleepless nights for Angela but coming up with the idea of using their wool to keep things both cool and warm.
Not only did it work but it created a family business which has won numerous environmental, business and packaging awards and Queens Awards. It now trades internationally as well as nationally supplying to food and pharma companies.
Managing director, Josie Morris, Angela’s daughter, explains why wool isn’t just for sheep…and throws in a few sheep facts too. www.woolcool.com
